Provincial Issues

Jurisdiction is the number one agenda item when dealing with the Provinces. Aboriginal and Treaty Rights remain at the root of provincial jurisdictional issues resulting in either negotiations or standoffs with Provincial authorities. Access to resources, land rights, taxation, Federal off-loading, access to services/social policy, Economic Development and Justice are a few of the major issues that we are involved with. All these and more are important matters being discussed in some of the Self-Government processes that have been developed. The fast growing Aboriginal population, particularly in the urban centres is a major concern for CAP. Our youth being a significant number of that urban population are at risk and thus have become a major focus in our initiatives.
