CAP Technical Committee on Corrections Mandate



The CAP Technical Committee on Corrections will provide assistance to communities and Provincial-Territorial Organizations proposing to deliver community correctional services. The four member technical committee will provide advice, information and support, and, assist with the development of proposals and the implementation of projects. Responsibilities include;

  • Assist with raising awareness of CAP constituents on corrections programs and initiatives including CCRA Section 81 & Section 84.
  • Provide information and support to Provincial/Territorial Organizations and communities developing corrections proposals or implementing projects.
  • Provide recommendations to the Executive and Board of CAP on corrections issues and on the development of a CAP national policy on corrections.
  • As directed by the Executive, provide feedback to the Correctional Service of Canada, the Aboriginal Issues Branch, the National Working Group on Aboriginal Corrections, Solicitor General or other government departments.
  • Enhance PTO involvement in the development of corrections policy.
  • Identify priorities for research on correctional issues.
  • Contribute to promoting employment opportunities within CSC.
  • The technical committee will meet twice per year and operate on consensus. The CAP Corrections Coordinator will facilitate the operations of the Technical Committee.
