CAP Corrections Justice Program

  Co-sponsored by
                                Correctional Service Canada

Introduction

Through the CAP Corrections Justice Program, communities proposing to deliver correctional services will be provided assistance. Marketing and promotional campaigns will be conducted to raise awareness on the issues and opportunities available. Regional and local corrections justice workers and non-reserve Aboriginal peoples across Canada will be provided direct assistance, information and support with the development of proposals and management of projects.

The CAP Corrections Justice Program has four primary goals;

  • Development of an integrated cross-governmental strategy through work on the National Aboriginal Working Group on Corrections.
  • Increased Aboriginal community capacity and greater Aboriginal involvement in corrections in urban, rural and remote Aboriginal communities.
  • Contribute to the successful community reintegration of Aboriginal offenders.
  • Development and implementation of culturally sensitive and responsive correctional programming and service delivery.

A CAP technical committee has been formed to assist Provincial affiliates/communities with undertaking S. 81 & S. 84 projects and to provide recommendations to the CAP executive and board on corrections justice policy. If you have any questions or require further information, please contact the CAP Corrections Justice Coordinator.
