There is an Elder who attends our Board of Directors Meetings when requested,
her name is Rikki Schook, our Honourary Elder is Josephine MacLean. The Youth Representaive also sits on the
Board. There is an Annual General Assembly
held every year where there are Motions and Resolutions made. 62 delegates
are picked to attend.

The Aims and Objectives of the Native Council are:
- To aid and assist all off-reserve
people of Aboriginal Ancestry in Prince Edward Island to form local
organizations for the purpose of advancing their general living conditions
and achieving a level of self-government.
- To work with all levels of Government,
public and private agencies, and private industry to improve Social,
Educational and Employment Opportunities for off-reserve Aboriginal
peoples of Prince Edward Island.
- To foster and strengthen language,
cultural identity and pride among the Aboriginal peoples of Prince Edward
Island.
- To inform the general public of
the special needs of the off-reserve Aboriginal peoples of Prince Edward
Island and of their efforts to achieve full participation in self-government
and in the economic, social and political life of the province.
- To cooperate with all other Aboriginal
organizations whose aims are similar to those of the Association.

Membership
Criteria
Constitution
and Bylaws Article III - Membership
Levels:
There shall be
four (4) levels of membership in the Council; name(ly) (1) full membership;
(2) associate membership: (3) membership-at-large; and (4) honorary
membership.
1.
Full Members
Full membership shall be open to any person
of Aboriginal Ancestry, and included spouses and children, whether
a permanent resident of Prince Edward Island, who does not reside
on an Indian Reserve (within the meaning of the Indian Act of Canada)
and who had proven their Aboriginal ancestry to the board and submitted
such membership application forms and fulfilled each other criteria
as may be approved by the Board of Directors of the Council

Associate Members:
Associate membership shall be open to any person
who is 16 years of age and over and who wishes to support the Council,
but who is ineligible, for whatever reason, for full membership.
3.
Membership-at-large
may be granted, at the discretion of the Council
during the Annual General Assembly, to any person or group of persons
sympathetic to the aims and objectives of the Council.
4.
Honourary Members:
Honourary memberships may be granted at the
discretion of the Council to any person or group of persons whose
efforts on behalf of Aboriginal people warrant recognition by the
membership of the Council.
