Interim National Chief Kevin Daniels addresses a panel of legal experts at the McGill Centre for Human right(February 6, 2009 – Ottawa, On) We are getting our Indian Act together - Interim National Chief Kevin Daniels told a panel of legal experts attending round table discussions at the McGill Centre for Human rights and legal Pluralism. It is time to put real solutions on the table and deal head-on with the crisis situation facing Aboriginal people with respect to gang-related violence in Canada.  He announced that the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples would be taking a leading role in finding those solutions by establishing a National Aboriginal Gang Prevention Commission in the near future. . CAP's Board of Directors anounce a United front, Feb 3rd 2009 (February 3, 2009 - OTTAWA, ONT) –UNITED FRONT In a meeting held January 27 – 29 in Ottawa, the Board of Directors of the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples addressed a number of issues of concern to its membership. Interim National Chief Kevin Daniels is proud to announce that the Board reached a full consensus on a range of issues and has committed to working on a united front with all affiliates including Manitoba who was reinstated after reconsideration of their status. Statement by Congress of Aboriginal Peoples Interim National Chief Kevin Daniels - Accountability remains priority number one,Jan 13th 2009{January 13, 2009 - OTTAWA, ON} Despite certain recent media reports suggesting otherwise, the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples (CAP) remains a thriving concern ready, willing and able to defend the needs and aspirations of Canada’s off-reserve Aboriginal community.

At a meeting in Ottawa today, CAP’s board affirmed its position in support of its efforts on behalf of its constituents.  Members of the Board heartily endorsed the outstanding contribution of National Chief Patrick Brazeau, who stepped aside last week as he prepares to assume his new duties in the Senate of Canada.
