A penetrating and scathing attack on INAC policy relating to recently registered Indians under Bill C-31, this article by Harry W. Daniels exposes the real agenda behind a piece of legislation that was presented to the Canadian public as a fair solution to the overt discrimination of pre-1985 policy under the Indian Act. Using INAC's own statistics, the article makes it clear that Bill C-31 has set the stage for a new crisis in coming decade. Click on the title or this link to read or download the article. Another version of this article formatted as speaking notes for a presentation to the National Aboriginal Women's Association is also included. Aboriginal Artists Featured - Revised Format The Urban Aboriginal Experience Throuugh The Works of Aboriginal Artists was produced as a project funded by the Digitial Collection program sponsored by Industry Canada and Schoolnet. of Contents Our second special feature of CAP Online presents one of the primary documents that launched the Native Council of Canada into the national constitutional spotlight. It was the first formal prounouncement of any national Aboriginal organization to insist that the patriation of Canada's Constitution could not take place without full and meaningful Aboririginal participation. Another valuable contribution of the document is a collection of appendicies which contain the texts of curcial documents in the history of Metis claims. This document is the first of a series of documents which will eventually be separated into an historical archive section of this site. The Declaration itself is currently being updated to reflect events since the original publication of the Declaration. |
