Arts & Dance – Recognizes those who use their creative & artistic talents to promote positive change in their community and environment.

Community - Recognizes a person who has made impact in their community, by doing something that has created positive change.

Culture & Heritage – Recognizes an applicant who demonstrates involvement in their traditional ways and shares this with others.

Education – Recognizes the achievement of obtaining an education while overcoming an obstacle in the process.

Leadership – Recognizes our enthusiastic, young Aboriginal leaders who have helped us become the people we are today, or in turn, have followed our leadership to become one of their own.

Sports – Recognizes a person who excels in sports at any level, but does not necessarily have to be at the front off the line or the top of the team

Application Criteria: (Back to Top)
- Aboriginal Youth between 15 and 29
- Of Aboriginal ancestry
- Demonstrates an overall positive attitude towards life

Nomination Process: (Back to Top)
- A person or organization completes and signs the Nomination Form and sends it to the CAP office along with the Nominator letter, 2 supporting letters (non-relatives), the nominee's resume, and current color picture.

Selection Process: (Back to Top)
A selection committee comprised of 3 NYC members, 2 CAP representatives and 1 Elderl. The following questions will be utilized during the selection process.

1.Does the nominee show an overall positive attitue towards life through his/her effortsr?
2.Does the nominee reflect the spirit and intent of these Awards?
3.Does the nominee qualify for the award they have been nomination for?
4. How do others feel about the nominee?
5.Is the nominee viewes as a role model to others?
6.What impact has the effort/achievement had on the nominee's person and community?
7. Has the nominee's efforts/achievement benefited other Aboriginal youth?
8. What are the nominee's future plans and ambitions?

All decisions are final. Recepients are notified by telephone, and letter. (Back to Top)
