The Canadian Human Rights Act applies to the federal government, and federally regulated agencies and businesses.  This includes the Department of Indian Affairs, Health Canada, and Band Councils.

The Canadian Human Rights Act prohibits discrimination on the basis of:

• Marital Status
• Family Status
• Physical or Mental Disability
• Pardoned Criminal Conviction
